Bush Proclaims “Mission Accomplished,” Yet Again!

"Non-cooperation with evil is as much a duty as is cooperation with good." --Mahatma Gandhi

What can the wise person say? How is a good and decent spirit supposed to cope with it all?

With the pitiless and bloody civil war raging in Iraq, as anticipated, and the American way of perpetrating opportunistic murder, mayhem and misery still the rule of the day in that woeful place, His Luminosity, George W. Bush, proud heir to a free and sensible tradition first inaugurated by the mature likes of George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, friend and confidant of the Divine, and even now (for reasons best known only to the Supreme Court, perhaps) the pretend President of the United States, has declared that “‘a free Iraq’ is within reach,” as reported last week by the New York Times

How nice! Obviously, as with all things Bush, it would probably be best here just to trust without verifying! But how, one might wonder, is such a thing possible if one still wants to remain sane?

And what was the occasion for proclaiming the “good news” to people of all nations far and wide? The specter of “the allure of retreat” on the horizon, according to the Times.

Why would the immediate withdrawal of the American military from Iraq be as an odious debacle that dare not speak its name? Because, as the Times points out in its story, it would trigger a terrible loss of Iraqi human life, to say nothing of spreading more collateral carnage abroad in the land.

Truly, are we all now expected to believe that a new, heartfelt love for the Iraqi people and their heritage on the part of our beloved, comic book president knows no bounds – a man who heretofore stood effectively mute while his father carbonized retreating Iraqi soldiers on their way back to Baghdad from Kuwait, a man who shamelessly watched on the sidelines while his own daddy and President Clinton oversaw the gratuitous demise of some 500,000 innocent Iraqi children with their joint demand that the U. N. impose nothing less than Draconian, life-annihilating sanctions upon the poor people of Iraq following the Gulf War?

But there’s more!

Is this not the same individual who, before ordering U. S. military forces into Iraq to save that poor, benighted country from her terrible despot, cared not one jot about either the well being or the freedom of the Iraqi people! For example, did he even ask the Iraqis if they wanted to be liberated by being invaded, occupied, oppressed, tortured and slaughtered willy-nilly by the United States in the first place? If he did, I am unaware of it!

By the same token, did this same Mr. Bush ever inquire of Iraqis if they’d be okay with having their historical heritage looted and lost to the world forever, or with having virtually their entire infrastructure obliterated and its reconstruction turned over to the economic interests of his friends and other favored multinationals to enhance their prospects of getting on in the world. If he did, I am not aware of it!

Finally, if this need be mentioned at all, what of the subsequent and staggering extermination of over 1,000,000 - did you all get that...OVER 1,000,000 -innocent Iraqi men, women and children (and still counting...just for the hell of it) that Mr. Bush has so easily championed and authorized! Where do they figure into the equation, I wonder! - or are they all just so many "broken eggs" in some kind of geopolitical gourmet omelet envisioned by Mr. Bush?

And people like Craig Moon, Arthur Sulzberger, Dennis FitzSimons, Donald Graham and John Cruickshank still take the supercilious dissembling and the pusillanimous pomposity of this woeful creature seriously – not to mention the members of the most pathetic and corrupt political class that America has ever produced, who, despite being American traitors and international war criminals for being accessories (before, during and after the fact) to what their make-believe president has done, still hold out for a chance of somehow being personally vindicated and “winners” in Iraq!

My God! Are there absolutely no grownup adults in high positions anywhere in America today?

Clearly, these days, as a reflection of Mr Bush himself no doubt, the enthrallment of America's leadership class with its own psychotic denial is exceeded only by its slavish devotion to thinking well of itself in all things!

Why is that, I wonder!

To the wise, all I can say is animadvertistine, ubicumque stes, fumum recta in faciem ferri?

As for the rest of us, maybe a simple reminder will suffice - don't let the bastards get you down!

Brilliant report. I hope America doesn't screw up again with voting in another lying, murdering bastard. That will not be enough for me though. These dicks need to be put on trial and subsequently put away for a very long time. This America, is the very least you owe to the rest of the world.

Thanks for your remarks, Martin. I like your hope for the future.

I think there are only two things we can, and must, do right now to make it real:

(1) Vote-support-work ONLY for those candidates who are working their tails off right now for public financing of all political campaigns in America:

(2) Form "Committees of Conscience" (like our founders' "Committees of Correspondence")in every neighborhood. county, district, state and region in America to make sure our representatives listen to us and do our bidding, instead of becoming the wolves Jefferson warned us they would become if we didn't watch them all like hawks at all times.

As always, in peace, truth, liberty, justice and freedom,

Robert
